Chapter 1 โ€“ One Year Later ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฏ

The soft chime of the bell echoed through The Little Bookshop as Jalebi pushed open the wooden door.

"Good morning, Rabdi!" she sang cheerfully, holding a small box wrapped in yellow paper.

Rabdi looked up from the counter, a smile instantly appearing on his face.

"You're early today," he said.

Jalebi placed the box on the counter and crossed her arms dramatically. "Of course I am. Do you even remember what day it is?"

Rabdi pretended to think hard.

"Hmm... Thursday?"

Jalebi gasped. "Rabdi!"

He laughed. "I'm joking."

Exactly one year had passed since the day Jalebi had first stepped into the old bookstore looking for a romance novel and unknowingly changed Rabdi's life forever.

Over the past year, the little bookstore had become more than just a shop. It had become their favorite place, filled with memories hidden between every page and every shelf.

Jalebi handed him the gift.

"Happy first anniversary," she whispered.

Rabdi carefully opened the box. Inside was a handmade scrapbook filled with photographs, tiny notes, dried flowers, and memories from the past year.

On the first page, it read:

"To my favorite chapter." โค๏ธ

Rabdi looked up, his eyes soft.

"You made this?"

Jalebi nodded shyly.

Rabdi walked around the counter and gently hugged her.

"And you still think books are my favorite thing?" he teased.

Jalebi smiled. "No. I know I'm your favorite now."

Both laughed.

That evening, after closing the bookstore, Rabdi took Jalebi to the rooftop of the building.

Fairy lights glowed softly around them. A small table was decorated with books, flowers, and candles. In the center sat a simple chocolate cake.

Jalebi's eyes widened.

"You did all this?"

Rabdi nodded nervously.

"I wanted our first anniversary to be special."

Jalebi looked around, overwhelmed.

"It's perfect."

As the city lights shimmered beneath the starry sky, they cut the cake together.

"Make a wish," Rabdi said.

Jalebi closed her eyes.

"May this little love story last forever."

When she opened them, Rabdi was already looking at her.

"What?" she asked.

Rabdi smiled softly.

"Nothing. I'm just grateful that one year ago, a girl with a sweet tooth walked into my bookstore."

Jalebi laughed.

"And I'm grateful that a grumpy bookstore owner let me stay."

The night ended with them sitting side by side, reading their favorite book under the starsโ€”just like the beginning of their story.

Because some stories don't fade with time; they only grow more beautiful. โœจ
