The Khan Mansion was unusually quiet that evening.
Zyan sat in his study, staring at Dua's photograph on his desk. Their families had already discussed the proposal, but the final decision was still theirs.
He picked up the photograph once again.
Zyan: "Dua Sheikh... what kind of person are you?"
Meanwhile, at Dua's house, she sat beside her mother, nervously looking at the same photograph.
Dua: "Ammi, what if he doesn't like me?"
Nusrat: "Beta, marriage isn't about impressing someone. It's about finding respect and understanding."
Dua: "But he's completely different from me."
Nusrat: "Sometimes differences are exactly what bring two people together."
The following afternoon, both families gathered at the Khan Mansion.
Dua entered wearing a simple pastel outfit. Zyan stood near the window in a black shirt, looking serious.
Their eyes met for the first time.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Amina Khan: "Zyan, why don't you take Dua to the garden?"
Zyan nodded.
Zyan: "Come."
Dua followed him quietly.
They sat across from each other in the garden.
Zyan: "I'll be honest with you. I never planned to get married."
Dua: "Neither did I... at least not this soon."
Zyan looked at her.
Zyan: "My work will always be important to me. I spend most of my time at the office."
Dua: "I understand."
Zyan: "And I don't want to give you false expectations. I can't promise you a perfect husband."
Dua smiled softly.
Dua: "I don't need a perfect husband."
Zyan: "Then what do you need?"
Dua: "Respect. Honesty. And a little kindness."
Zyan was quiet.
For the first time, her answer genuinely surprised him.
Zyan: "That's all?"
Dua: "That's enough to build something real."
Back inside, both families waited anxiously.
Farhan Khan: "Zyan?"
Zyan glanced toward Dua.
Zyan: "I have no objection."
Everyone smiled.
Dua's father turned toward her.
Imran: "Dua?"
She took a deep breath.
Dua: "I agree."
Amina Khan's eyes filled with happiness.
Amina: "Alhamdulillah."
Later that evening, Zyan stood alone on the balcony.
Dua approached him.
Dua: "So... we're getting married."
Zyan: "Apparently."
Dua: "You're not nervous?"
Zyan: "I don't get nervous."
Dua: "Really?"
Zyan: "Really."
Dua smiled.
Dua: "Then I'll be nervous for both of us."
For the first time, Zyan almost smiled.
Zyan: "You talk a lot."
Dua: "You'll get used to it."
They looked at each other.
Neither knew it yet, but this marriage—born from circumstances rather than love—was about to change both their hearts forever.
Narrator:
"Sometimes two people don't choose love. They simply choose to take the first step together... and somewhere along the way, love chooses them." ❤️
