The Malhotra mansion remained silent after Arohi's refusal.
Everyone knew her decision, but Grandmother wasn't ready to give up.
That evening, the family gathered in the living room.
Arohi stood near the window, staring outside.
Rudra walked into the room.
Everyone turned toward him.
Grandmother:
“Rudra, we need your answer.”
Rudra remained silent for a moment.
Then he looked at Arohi.
She immediately looked away.
Rudra:
“I'll marry Arohi.”
Arohi's eyes widened.
Arohi:
“Rudra…”
He raised his hand gently, stopping her.
Rudra:
“But I have one condition.”
Everyone looked at him.
Rudra:
“Arohi doesn't have to love me.”
Arohi stared at him.
Rudra:
“I know she loved Reyansh. I know she still does. I will never ask her to forget him.”
His voice remained calm, but his eyes revealed the pain he was hiding.
Rudra:
“This marriage will be a responsibility. Nothing more.”
Arohi's eyes filled with tears.
Arohi:
“Then why are you agreeing?”
Rudra looked at her for a few seconds.
He wanted to tell her the truth.
Because I've loved you silently for years.
But he couldn't say it.
Instead, he answered—
Rudra:
“Because I don't want you to feel alone.”
Arohi looked down.
Rudra:
“You can live your life the way you want. I won't force you to become someone you're not.”
Grandmother nodded.
Grandmother:
“Then the marriage will happen.”
Arohi looked at Rudra again.
Arohi:
“And what about you?”
Rudra gave a faint, sad smile.
Rudra:
“I have no expectations from you, Arohi.”
He turned and walked away.
Arohi watched him disappear down the hallway.
She didn't know that behind his calm expression was a heart that had loved her for far longer than she could imagine.
And now, he was willingly marrying the woman he loved—
without expecting her love in return. 🖤
To be continued…
